Covid-19 Business Interruption

This portal has been created to receive business interruption claims from Hiscox customers arising from national lockdowns imposed by the Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. If your claim arises from a local lockdown in your area or region only, please call our claims team on 01206 773 941 or email at covid19communications@hiscox.com.

Hiscox cannot currently confirm if your business interruption policy provides cover. This is because Hiscox, along with a number of other insurers, is a defendant in legal proceedings brought by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to seek clarity about the application of certain non-damage business interruption policy wordings to losses resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.  We have to await the final outcome of these proceedings before we can confirm if your policy responds and how your losses should be assessed.

When we have sufficient clarity on the legal position you will be able to use this portal to progress your claim including, if relevant, providing financial information that will enable us to assess your recoverable loss. For now, please answer the questions below to register your claim.  You will then receive an acknowledgment email.

You do not need to take any further action at this time.  Once the final outcome of the FCA Test Case is known, we will contact you as soon as possible.

Further guidance and explanations are provided to help you complete all the questions as you progress through the portal.  Contact details are also provided if there are any specific queries about the portal and the questions we are asking.

Your claim registration through the portal should take around five minutes to complete and you will need to have the following information ready

  • Information about your company, such as company number/sole trader name
  • Contact details for your insurance broker (if you bought your policy through a broker and you wish to share this information with them)
  • The time period during which any Mandatory Restrictions caused an interruption to your business, including the start and end dates (if applicable) of those mandatory government restrictions
  • Any significant changes you have made or you intend to make to your business activities following Mandatory Restrictions being imposed.
